IMPORTANT COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT

Consumer Beware

As we hear of suspicious activities we feel you should be aware of, we will post them here. Please read below for details of situations you should beware of:

We have been notified of two “debt relief” companies that have been sent cease and desist letters by the U.S. Deparment of Education as they were using the official seal of the Department of Education without authorization.

These companies were using sophisticated strategies to target unsuspecting borrowers. There are four warning signs of third-party debt relief companies that student loan borrowers should avoid:

  • Pressure to pay high up-front fees
  • Promises of immediate loan forgiveness or debt cancellation
  • Demands that you sign a “third party authorization”
  • Request for a student’s Federal Student Aid PIN or FSA ID

It has come to our attention that some online services are charging students to complete their FAFSA. FAFSA stands for Free Application for Student Aid. It is a FREE service of the Federal financial aid system.

Also, if you are eligible for Veterans benefits that is FREE to apply for as well.

Do not be fooled. Call us if you have any questions about Federal aid or Veterans benefits.
